dbt peer mentorship

Community peers who have completed at least one round of the DBT Mindfulness & Skills Group Series who are interested in providing DBT peer mentorship to new DBT group clients may inquire about the possibility of becoming a DBT Peer Mentor. Peer mentorship is considered an opportunity to be of service to others in recovery while continuing to deepen your own DBT skills use. Service and community can be strong motivating factors for staying connected to one’s recovery, and we support these concepts at RtW.

A DBT Peer Mentor participates in the DBT group on Skills night (Tuesday evenings) and provides their own experience and application of the skills from their own lives to incoming DBT group members.

A DBT Peer Mentor may offer examples of how they apply a particular DBT skill in their own life or how they moved through a barrier or hurdle in their own DBT work. A Peer Mentor does not pay to participate in the DBT group series. A Peer Mentor will never be responsible to run or facilitate a DBT group or conversation.

As the DBT group series is offered over and over again, there are many opportunities to engage as a Peer Mentor when the time is right.

Clients who are interested in this role are encouraged to talk about this idea with their individual and/or group therapist(s) and also may contact Kat Zwick about this possibility at kat@ridethewaverecovery.com

RtW does not solicit Peer Mentors. Individuals who have completed the group series and wish to participate in this role can let their individual therapist and Kat Zwick know, if they would like. Peer Mentors participate for free and receive DBT Materials free of charge.
